IRS Launches New Mobile App to Enhance Taxpayer Account Services
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has introduced a new mobile application designed to replace its previous IRS2Go app. This new app aims to provide taxpayers with expanded access to various account services directly from their mobile devices. Users can now securely view their tax records and transcripts, access notices and letters, check payment history, and review account balance information. Additionally, the app allows for the management of identity protection PINs. Taxpayers can also make payments, monitor the status of their refunds and amended returns, and adjust certain communication preferences through the application. The IRS has clarified that this new app complements, rather than replaces, the full suite of services available on IRS.gov and existing online account platforms. For current users of IRS2Go with automatic updates enabled, the new IRS app will be delivered through the standard update process. New users can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
