CTA Red Line Maintenance Causes Weekend Subway Station Closures in Chicago
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has announced that Red Line trains will not stop at several subway stations this weekend due to ongoing maintenance work. From 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, trains traveling both north and south will be rerouted to elevated tracks between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations. This rerouting means that Red Line trains will bypass the North/Clybourn, Clark/Division, Chicago, Grand, Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison, and Roosevelt stations. Instead, trains will make stops along the elevated tracks from the Armitage Brown Line station to the elevated Roosevelt Orange and Green Line station, including stops at elevated Loop stations. To accommodate affected passengers, free shuttle buses will operate between Fullerton and Clark/Lake in both directions. This is the second consecutive weekend of such closures, with additional closures expected in the coming weekends.
