Louisville's I-65 Corridor Project Prompts Overnight Lane Closures, Affecting Traffic Flow
In downtown Louisville, Kentucky, overnight lane closures have been scheduled as part of the ongoing Interstate 65 Central Corridor project. Starting Wednesday night, two westbound lanes of Muhammad Ali Boulevard will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. until August 24. Additional closures will affect Broadway and Brook Street, with specific lanes closing at different times. The project aims to facilitate temporary access to the UofL Health parking garage during construction. Officials have announced that Muhammad Ali Boulevard will undergo a long-term closure starting August 25, converting it temporarily to two-way traffic for local access. Broadway will also close under I-65 from August 26 through mid-October for bridge demolition. The project includes multiple ramp closures and ongoing repairs to three bridges, with future overpass work planned. Officials encourage through-traffic, especially trucks, to use posted detours to alleviate congestion.
