Texas Republican Districts See Surge in H-1B Visa Filings Amid National Decline
H-1B visa filings have surged in Republican-held suburban districts in Texas, contrasting with a national decline in such applications between fiscal years 2019 and 2025. According to a new analysis by LayoffHedge, the eight fastest-growing congressional districts for H-1B demand are all represented by Texas Republicans. The study examined 6.9 million federal Labor Condition Applications (LCAs), which are required before employers can petition for H-1B visas. Notably, in Texas's 26th District, represented by Representative Brandon Gill, filings increased by 217%, from 2,010 in FY2019 to 6,374 in FY2025. This trend is part of a broader pattern where ten of the 20 fastest-growing districts for H-1B filings are in Texas, with 15 of these districts represented by Republicans.
