CDC Reports Norovirus Outbreak on Caribbean Princess Cruise Affecting Over 100 People
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported a norovirus outbreak on the Caribbean Princess cruise ship, affecting 102 passengers and 13 crew members. The outbreak, characterized by symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting, was reported during the ship's voyage from April 28 to May 11. The Caribbean Princess, operated by Princess Cruises, is currently in the northwest Atlantic Ocean and is scheduled to arrive at Port Canaveral, Florida, on May 11. In response to the outbreak, the ship's crew has increased cleaning and disinfection procedures, isolated those who fell ill, and collected stool specimens for testing. Princess Cruises has confirmed the outbreak and stated that comprehensive cleaning will occur upon the ship's arrival at Port Canaveral.
