Seattle Restaurant Owner Pleads Guilty to $1.4 Million Tax Fraud Scheme
Ruadhri 'Rory' McCormick, the owner of Single Shot Saloon in Seattle's Capitol Hill, has pleaded guilty to a tax fraud scheme involving over $1.4 million. McCormick admitted to willfully failing to pay unemployment, Social Security, and Medicare taxes withheld from employee paychecks over a decade. The U.S. Department of Justice announced that McCormick could face up to five years in prison when sentenced on October 5. He has agreed to repay the full amount to the IRS. The plea agreement includes a recommendation for a prison sentence of no more than 15 months, although the judge is not bound by this recommendation.
