ICE Arrests in Minnesota Return to Pre-Surge Levels While National Figures Soar
Immigration enforcement in Minnesota has reverted to levels seen before 'Operation Metro Surge,' according to new federal data from the Deportation Data Project. This contrasts sharply with the national trend, where federal immigration agents are arresting more immigrants than at any point during the Trump administration, with nearly 50,000 arrests recorded in July. Minnesota, which was among the top states for arrests in January, has significantly dropped to 32nd place. In January, over 3,000 federal agents were deployed to Minnesota, leading to 2,441 immigrant arrests. However, following the announced end of the surge in February, monthly arrests in the state fell below 250 from March to July. Over half of the July arrests nationwide occurred in just four states: Texas, Florida, California, and Georgia.
