Aurora Health Care to Transform Closed Milwaukee School into $50 Million Health and Wellness Hub
Aurora Health Care is developing a nearly $50 million 'health and wellness hub' named 'The Beacon' in Milwaukee's Near West Side. This new center will occupy the former Wisconsin Avenue School, which closed in 2007. Plans for 'The Beacon' were initially announced last year, with community leaders recently providing more details on its programming and partnerships. The hub aims to offer a wide range of services, including Milwaukee's first Community Smiles Dental clinic, housing stability services from Guest House of Milwaukee, and no-cost legal support and personalized care navigation through a partnership with Legal Action of Wisconsin.
