Europeans Invited to Vote on New Euro Banknote Design
The European Central Bank has launched a public voting initiative to decide on a new design for euro banknotes. The designs, selected by a panel of jurors, are based on two themes: European places and ideas, and birds and rivers, symbolizing freedom and unity. The public can vote on ten proposed designs, which feature cultural icons such as Leonardo da Vinci and Marie Curie. The voting process will continue until mid-September, after which a final design will be chosen and undergo further vetting before being adopted.
