Los Angeles Sneaker Boutique Owner Charged in $2 Million Nike Theft Ring
A federal investigation has led to charges against a group of individuals, including the owner of a popular sneaker boutique in Los Angeles, for their involvement in a sophisticated theft ring. The group is accused of stealing $2 million worth of Nike shoes from the company's North American Logistics Center in Memphis, Tennessee. The operation allegedly involved placing fraudulent shipping labels on coveted Nike products, rerouting them to various locations, and reselling them for profit. Key figures in the case include Bereket Abraham, co-founder of the LA sneaker shop Coolkicks, and Jorge Cuellar, a social media personality. The investigation, which began after the arrest of Roy Lee Harvey Jr. in January 2024, uncovered a multi-state conspiracy involving former Nike employees. The suspects face charges of conspiracy, aiding and abetting, and interstate transportation of stolen property.
