Rain Moderates Minnesota Wildfires, But Risks Remain
Rainfall in northern Minnesota has temporarily moderated wildfire activity, but warm and dry conditions are expected to return, posing renewed risks. Over 64,000 acres have burned across multiple fires, with more than 1,000 firefighters working to contain the blazes. The largest fires include the Bear Trap and Dark Fires, which have burned a combined 37,837 acres and are 38% contained. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) remains closed for overnight use, though officials are considering a phased reopening starting July 30.
