Europe and U.S. Face Extreme Weather Swings: Arctic Chill, Heatwaves, and Storms
Europe and parts of the United States are experiencing dramatic weather shifts this week. In Europe, a prolonged Arctic chill has given way to a surge of warm air from North Africa, with temperatures expected to rise by 15°C compared to last week. France and England are forecast to see significant warming, while Spain and Portugal could experience highs in the mid- to high-30s Celsius (mid-90s Fahrenheit). Meanwhile, the U.S. is facing contrasting conditions. The northwestern states, including Wyoming, northern Colorado, and northeast Utah, are bracing for a winter storm with up to 18 inches (46 cm) of snow and winds reaching 60 mph (96 km/h). In the central U.S., the clash of cold and warm air is fueling thunderstorms, with a 15% tornado probability across four states. Additionally, red-flag warnings for wildfire risks have been issued in the southwestern U.S. due to gusty winds and low humidity.
