Alabama Renames State Office Building in Honor of Gov. Kay Ivey
A state government building in downtown Montgomery, Alabama, has been renamed the Kay Ivey Office Building in honor of Governor Kay Ivey. Previously known as the Attorney General’s Office Building, it is located at the corner of Dexter Avenue and South Bainbridge Street, near the Alabama Capitol. The building, originally constructed in 1937, has undergone several transformations, serving as the State Highway Building and later the Public Safety Building. The renaming was approved by the Alabama Building Renovation Finance Authority following a resolution passed by the Alabama Legislature. Governor Ivey, who became Alabama's second female governor in 2017, is set to complete her term in January 2027, marking nearly a decade in office.
