American Transmission Systems Completes Power Grid Upgrades in Trumbull County, Ohio
American Transmission Systems, Inc. (ATSI), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Transmission, is finalizing significant upgrades to the power grid in Trumbull County, Ohio. The project, which involves rebuilding nearly three miles of the Niles Central-Packard 138-kV Transmission Line, aims to enhance the reliability of electric service for over 16,000 residents and businesses in the area. The upgrades include replacing old wooden poles with 22 new steel structures and installing thicker wires capable of carrying more electricity. These improvements are expected to reduce outages and speed up restoration times when outages occur. The project is part of FirstEnergy's broader Energize365 initiative, which plans to invest $36 billion by 2030 to modernize and strengthen the electric grid.
