Heavy Rain and Flood Watch in Effect for Honolulu
Honolulu is bracing for significant rainfall over the next few days, with a flood watch in effect until Friday. According to Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi, the island of OÊ»ahu could experience between 4 to 17 inches of rain, depending on the scenario. This comes after an already extraordinary weather event that saw over 50 inches of rain in some parts of the island. The heavy rain is expected to persist through Saturday, with the system lingering over the area. Additionally, a high surf advisory is in place for south-facing shores. The recent back-to-back Kona lows have left the ground saturated, raising concerns about potential flash floods across the islands. In response, emergency shelters have been opened in various locations, including WaiÊ»anae, MÄnoa, KÄneÊ»ohe, and WahiawÄ.
