Maryland Lawmakers Praise Court Ruling Overturning FBI Headquarters Relocation from Greenbelt
Maryland lawmakers, including Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth, Sens. Chris Van Hollen, Angela Alsobrooks, and Reps. Glenn Ivey, Steny Hoyer, Kweisi Mfume, Jamie Raskin, and Johnny Olszewski, have lauded a recent court decision that overturned the relocation of the FBI headquarters away from Greenbelt, Maryland. The delegation stated that this court victory supports the return of the FBI headquarters project to Greenbelt. They emphasized that Greenbelt was initially selected after a competitive and transparent process, considering security and cost factors. The lawmakers characterized the Trump administration’s decision to redirect funding for the relocation as “unlawful and void,” and view the recent ruling as a crucial step towards rectifying this. The process for establishing a new FBI headquarters has been ongoing since 2009, and the Maryland delegation is committed to seeing it completed in their state.
