Rescue Operation Amid Rough Seas Off Puerto Rico Coast
A dramatic rescue operation unfolded on the night of April 2, 2026, off the coast of Puerto Rico, involving multiple agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard and Puerto Rico Police. The incident began with a report of two individuals stranded on a capsized boat near Isla de Cabras, a small inlet in San Juan Bay. Responding to the emergency, a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) marine unit and a Puerto Rico Police helicopter were dispatched. However, the CBP boat capsized in 10-foot swells, throwing three agents into the water. Despite challenging sea conditions, a Coast Guard helicopter and rescue swimmer successfully retrieved all five individuals, who were later reported to be in stable condition.
