Rhett Marques, endorsed by President Trump, has emerged victorious in the Republican primary for Alabama's newly redrawn 2nd Congressional District. This development follows the Supreme Court's decision to allow Alabama to implement a congressional map more favorable to Republicans, which has eliminated one of the state's two majority-Black districts. The new boundaries exclude Mobile, complicating the reelection prospects for Democratic Rep. Shomari Figures, who previously won the seat in 2024. The University of Virginia's Center for Politics has rated the race as likely Republican, indicating a challenging path for Democrats in the upcoming elections.
