Ho Chi Minh City Approves $5 Billion MSC Container Terminal Project
Ho Chi Minh City has approved a $5 billion project to develop the Can Gio International transshipment port, led by a consortium including MSC's Terminal Investment Limited. The project, which has been in planning for nearly four years, aims to establish Vietnam's largest transshipment port. Located on an offshore islet at the mouth of the Cai Mep River, the port will initially have a capacity of 4.8 million TEU by 2030, expanding to 16.9 million TEU by 2047. The development is part of a broader strategy to enhance Ho Chi Minh City's status as a global maritime hub.
