Nevada Officials Refute DHS Claims on Noncitizen Voters, Confirm Flagged Individuals are Citizens
Nevada election officials have stated that 185 individuals identified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as noncitizens registered to vote are, in fact, U.S. citizens. This refutation comes after DHS provided Nevada with voter-registration identification numbers, claiming these individuals were noncitizens. Nevada's Chief Deputy Secretary of State, Greg Ott, communicated to DHS that the state's records confirm the citizenship of these individuals and that DHS had provided no substantive evidence to suggest otherwise. Earlier, DHS had claimed to have identified over 250,000 noncitizens registered to vote across several states, including Nevada, and initially suggested that as many as 15,903 noncitizens could be registered in Nevada.
