Gaza-Bound Protest Ship Damaged in German Harbor, Delays Voyage
A small vessel, temporarily renamed Handala II, which was intended to sail to Gaza as part of an anti-Israel protest, sustained significant damage in Kiel, Germany. The ship crashed into a harbor wall, resulting in at least €30,000 (approximately £25,000) in damages. The incident occurred last week while the Danish vessel, originally named Fru Sand, was en route to the Mediterranean. Its crew had planned to challenge Israel's blockade of Gaza. Following the collision, the ship also experienced engine trouble, rendering it unable to continue its journey. The Handala II has since left Kiel and is reportedly returning to Denmark for further repairs after some engine issues were addressed.
