Parents of Saylor Hayes Arrested in Tennessee Following Child's Disappearance and Death
John Herb Hayes III, 70, and Geordyn Nichole Hayes, 31, the parents of 5-year-old Saylor Hayes, have been arrested in Carter County, Tennessee. They face charges of unlawfully placing a child at risk and willfully abandoning a child. These arrests follow an extensive multi-agency search that concluded with the recovery of Saylor's body from waters near Hagley Landing in the Pawleys Island area. Saylor was reported missing after allegedly wandering away from a rental home in Hagley Estates. Authorities have not yet disclosed specific details regarding the evidence that led to these charges. The parents are awaiting extradition to Georgetown County, South Carolina, where the charges were filed. Sheriff Carter Weaver emphasized that the investigation into Saylor's death is ongoing, and these arrests are based on developed evidence and applicable law, with the defendants presumed innocent until proven guilty.
