Ukrainian Shelling Causes Significant Damage in Russia's Belgorod, Affecting Power Supply
Nighttime shelling by Ukrainian forces has reportedly caused significant damage in the Russian city of Belgorod, located near the Ukraine-Russia border. According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, the attacks resulted in power outages in some districts of the city. The shelling occurred despite a previously agreed moratorium on strikes between Russia and Ukraine, which had been in place to halt attacks on each other's energy infrastructure. However, the timeframe for this moratorium was disputed, and strikes resumed earlier this week. The governor of the neighboring Bryansk region also reported that Ukrainian forces used HIMARS missiles and drones to target energy facilities, leading to power outages in some settlements. The attacks have taken place amid U.S.-brokered peace talks, adding to the tension in the region.
