Glovis Lighthouse's Arrival at ABP Southampton Marks Milestone in Automotive Shipping
The Glovis Lighthouse, a record-breaking vehicle carrier, made its maiden voyage to the Port of Southampton on July 14. This vessel is the largest of its kind to dock at the port, with a capacity to carry up to 10,800 car equivalent units (CEU). Measuring 230 meters in length, the Glovis Lighthouse represents the latest generation of ships serving the global automotive industry. It is capable of operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG), which reduces carbon emissions by approximately 24% compared to conventional fuels. The vessel's arrival at Southampton's Solent Gateway, a recently deepened and lengthened berth, underscores the port's role as a leading hub for automotive logistics and international trade.
