Former UFC Fighter Anthony Smith Allowed to Leave U.S. for Fight Despite Domestic Violence Charges in Sarpy County
Anthony Smith, a former UFC fighter based in Omaha, Nebraska, who is currently facing domestic violence charges, has received judicial permission to travel internationally for a professional fight. Smith was arrested last month by Sarpy County authorities on charges of domestic assault and false imprisonment. Court documents indicate that Smith was involved in an altercation at a Gretna bar, where he allegedly threatened to kill the victim if they did not accompany him home. Despite these charges, Smith is out on a $45,000 bond. A judge's order, filed recently, permits him to travel to the Dominican Republic between September 27 and October 3 to participate in a scheduled professional sporting event. However, the judge explicitly denied Smith's request to have contact with the victim. Smith is slated for another court appearance on September 21.
