NYPD Detective Promoted After Heroic Horseback Pursuit of Purse Thief
Detective Kyle McLaughlin of the NYPD was promoted to detective specialist following a notable arrest in Manhattan. McLaughlin, while on horseback with his equine partner Kelly, apprehended Felicia Field, a convicted killer on parole, who had stolen a purse. The arrest took place on April 15 at West 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue. McLaughlin, who has been with the NYPD for 13 years and part of the mounted unit for seven, was recognized for his quick action and dedication to public safety. Kelly, a former racehorse saved from slaughter, has been McLaughlin's partner for several years, and their teamwork was praised by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch during a promotion ceremony.
