Brown University Alumni Poised to Dominate Gubernatorial Ranks, Potentially Surpassing Harvard
Brown University is on the verge of having the highest number of sitting governors with bachelor's degrees from the same institution, potentially surpassing Harvard University. This development hinges on the outcomes of upcoming November elections in Iowa and Maine. Rob Sand, a 2005 Brown graduate, is a leading Democratic candidate for governor in Iowa, while Hannah Pingree, a 1998 Brown graduate, is a strong contender for governor in Maine. If both Sand and Pingree win their respective elections, they would join current Delaware Governor Matt Meyer, also a Brown alumnus, bringing the total to three sitting governors from Brown University. This would exceed Harvard's current count of two sitting governors, Ned Lamont of Connecticut and Maura Healey of Massachusetts, unless Rhode Island's Democratic nominee, Helena Foulkes, a Harvard alumna, secures a victory.
