National Weather Service Duluth Issues Dense Fog and Small Craft Advisories for Lake Superior
The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office in Duluth, Minnesota, has issued several marine advisories for various sections of Lake Superior. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for areas including Grand Portage to Grand Marais, Grand Marais to Taconite Harbor, Taconite Harbor to Silver Bay Harbor, and the Outer Apostle Islands, generally until 7 AM or 10 AM CDT. Additionally, Small Craft Advisories have been issued for numerous segments of the lake, including Grand Portage to Grand Marais, Grand Marais to Taconite Harbor, Taconite Harbor to Silver Bay Harbor, Silver Bay Harbor to Two Harbors, Two Harbors to Duluth, Duluth to Port Wing, Port Wing to Sand Island, Sand Island to Bayfield, and the Outer Apostle Islands. These Small Craft Advisories are primarily in effect from 1 PM CDT through this evening, with southwest winds expected to reach 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 25 knots, and waves building to 2 to 4 feet in some areas.
