Romanian Authorities Investigate Tanker Fire Linked to Ukraine Conflict
A Liberian-flagged tanker, Gas Lisbon, caught fire off Romania's Black Sea coast while en route to a Ukrainian port, resulting in the death of a sailor and injuries to others. Romanian authorities are investigating a potential link to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The incident occurred approximately 20 nautical miles off Romania's coast, and the entire 17-member crew was evacuated. The fire caused significant damage to the vessel, which was carrying over 3,790 tons of liquefied petroleum gas. Romanian President Nicusor Dan stated that the circumstances and causes of the incident are under investigation.
