Florida Local Officials Urge Voter Awareness on Property Tax Measure's Fiscal Impact
Local officials across Florida are expressing significant concerns regarding Amendment 3, a property tax measure slated for the November ballot, and are actively campaigning to inform voters about its potential financial consequences. At the Florida League of Cities convention in Hollywood, officials rallied to highlight that the measure, if passed, would substantially reduce property tax revenue for cities. Amendment 3 proposes to raise the homestead exemption to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028. State analysts project that local governments could lose upwards of $12 billion annually as a result.
