Gas Service Restored to Gulfport Restaurants Following Channel South Construction Site Leak
Gas service has been restored to multiple restaurants in Gulfport, Mississippi, including Half Shell Oyster House and Neighbors Tap and Table, after a gas leak occurred at the Channel South construction site. The leak, caused by heavy equipment rupturing a large gas line on Friday morning, led to temporary closures for these establishments. Fire Chief Billy Kelley reported that the gas smell lingered due to low clouds. All workers were evacuated from the construction zone while Delta Utilities and other crews worked to contain and repair the leak. The repair involved welding a valve shut and took several hours to complete. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and officials confirmed there was no immediate danger to the surrounding area.
