LEGO Foundation Donates $97M to Support Children in Conflict Zones
The LEGO Foundation has announced a $97 million donation to expand the International Rescue Committee's (IRC) programs aimed at helping children in conflict zones through play-based learning. This initiative is designed to reach 5 million children across East Africa and the Middle East, focusing on areas severely affected by conflict, such as Ethiopia, Lebanon, and Syria. The funding will support the IRC's PlayMatters program, which integrates playful learning into educational settings to help children recover from trauma and continue their education. The program also advocates for education funding at the national level, working with governments to incorporate these methods into their curricula.
