Army Utilizes Counter-Drone Marketplace to Enhance Security for Upcoming Events
The U.S. Army is leveraging a new counter-drone marketplace to enhance security at upcoming high-profile events, addressing concerns over unmanned aerial system threats. The Pentagon's Joint Interagency Task Force 401 has developed this 'Amazon-like' platform, which offers a catalog of anti-drone parts and systems for government personnel. Since its launch, $13 million worth of technology, including sensors, radars, and electronic warfare platforms, has been purchased. The marketplace aims to streamline the acquisition process, allowing state, local, and federal law enforcement to procure necessary equipment efficiently. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll highlighted the marketplace's role in sharing counter-drone capabilities, emphasizing its importance in safeguarding events like the FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics.
