Man Arrested for Allegedly Threatening Texas Governor Greg Abbott
Brandon Andrew Miller, 36, has been arrested and charged with making terroristic threats against Texas Governor Greg Abbott. According to an arrest affidavit, Miller left two threatening voicemails at the governor's office on August 21. In the first voicemail, the caller stated, "We will kill you," and used profanity, telling Governor Abbott to "learn your f****** place." A second voicemail, left minutes later, included graphic threats of violence. The Texas Department of Public Safety's Criminal Investigations Division, in collaboration with the Homeland Security Division, traced the phone number to a Verizon Wireless account registered to Miller. Investigators also obtained a one-time location ping from Verizon that placed the phone near Whitney. A communications supervisor from the governor's office provided a sworn statement indicating that the voicemails caused fear of serious bodily injury among staff members who heard them.
