Iran Acquires Chinese Satellite for Surveillance of U.S. Bases
According to a report by the Financial Times, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) secretly purchased a Chinese surveillance satellite, the TEE-01B, in late 2024. This satellite was reportedly used to monitor U.S. military bases across the Middle East, including those in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq. The satellite provided imagery and data before and after missile and drone strikes on these locations. The acquisition included access to a network of commercial ground stations operated by Emposat, a Beijing-based company. The report suggests that the satellite played a role in targeting U.S. military assets during recent conflicts.
