Boise Police Rescue Dog and Cat from Hot Moving Truck, Charge Two with Animal Cruelty
In Boise, Idaho, police officers rescued a dog and a cat from a moving truck where they were found in distress due to high temperatures. The Boise Police Department responded to a call at a truck stop on South Broadway Avenue, where a dog was reported locked inside a moving truck. The temperature outside was approximately 98 degrees, and the animals had been inside for at least 20 minutes. Officer Yankovich, the first responder, forced entry into the truck upon hearing heavy panting and discovered the animals in kennels, showing signs of dehydration. Immediate care was provided, and the Idaho Humane Society was contacted. The animals are now recovering. Two individuals believed to be responsible for the animals were charged with two misdemeanor counts of carrying animals in a cruel manner. The police emphasized the dangers of leaving pets in vehicles, noting that temperatures can rise significantly inside a vehicle, posing risks to pets, children, and vulnerable adults.
