Etgarim's Sports Programs Empower Individuals with Disabilities to Overcome Challenges
Etgarim, an Israeli organization, is dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through outdoor challenge sports. The organization emphasizes the rehabilitation value of sports, offering activities that cater to physical, emotional, cognitive, and sensory disabilities. Each year, Etgarim engages 1,500 volunteers to assist 6,000 participants in various outdoor sports, including sailing, surfing, and cycling. The organization also supports individuals affected by trauma, such as those from evacuated communities during the Swords of Iron War. Etgarim is constructing a sports club in Sderot to further aid people with disabilities and post-trauma. A notable success story is Oran Almog, who, after losing his sight and family members in a terror attack, became an accomplished sailor through Etgarim's programs. Almog credits the organization with transforming his life, enabling him to achieve personal and professional success.
