Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, sent an unusual gift to his son, King Charles, during his time at Gordonstoun School in Scotland. Instead of a typical care package, Prince Philip chose to send a 12th-century Norman font to remind Charles of 'English beauty.' This gesture was intended to provide comfort to Charles, who reportedly did not enjoy his time at the boarding school. The font was placed in the school chapel during Charles's attendance and later returned to Shropshire in the 1970s.
