Five Mile Creek Greenbelt in Southern Dallas Receives $2 Million Federal Funding Boost
U.S. Representative Marc Veasey has announced a $2 million federal funding allocation for the Five Mile Creek Greenbelt project in southern Dallas. This initiative aims to create a network of parks and trails connecting neighborhoods to schools, public transit, and other essential services. The project, which began in 2018, is expected to be completed by 2032 and will include 17 miles of trails. The Trust for Public Land, in collaboration with the city of Dallas, is spearheading the development of this greenbelt, which is projected to cost approximately $73 million. The new funding will support planning and design efforts for additional trail segments, enhancing connectivity and accessibility for nearly 200,000 residents in the area.
