U.S. Military Leads Extensive Search for Missing Soldiers Off Morocco's Coast
A large-scale search operation involving over 600 military personnel from multiple countries is underway to locate two U.S. soldiers who went missing off the coast of Morocco. The soldiers disappeared during the African Lion military exercises, which are U.S.-led drills involving over 7,000 personnel from more than 30 nations. The soldiers were last seen near the Cap Draa training area outside Tan-Tan, a coastal city in southwestern Morocco, and are believed to have been on a recreational hike when they may have fallen into the ocean. The search, now in its fifth day, covers more than 45 square kilometers of coastal and open ocean area. The Moroccan Navy has released footage showing military divers, aircraft, and canine teams involved in the search. Various military units, including Moroccan and French naval vessels, are participating in the operation, alongside U.S. logistics support and aviation equipment.
