Pennsylvania Treasury Returns Over $30,000 in Unclaimed Property to Orwigsburg Residents
Pennsylvania State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, alongside Senator David Argall (R-29) and Rep. Jamie Barton (R-124), announced the return of over $30,000 in unclaimed property to residents and businesses in the Orwigsburg area. This follows a recent event held at the Orwigsburg Area Free Public Library in Schuylkill County. Treasurer Garrity emphasized that such events are crucial for connecting with local communities and helping individuals reclaim their rightful funds. Since assuming office in 2021, Treasurer Garrity has overseen the return of more than $1.2 billion in unclaimed property, with a record $334 million returned last year. Senator Argall noted that his office has now facilitated the return of over $500,000 in unclaimed property to residents. Unclaimed property encompasses various assets, including dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks, and physical assets like collectible coins, jewelry, and savings bonds often found in safe deposit boxes.
