Massive Data Breach Affects 280 Million in Canvas Cyberattack
PC Gamer reports that Instructure, the company behind Canvas, experienced a significant data breach affecting 280 million users, including teachers, school staff, and students. The ransomware group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility, alleging they accessed user data such as names, email addresses, and private messages. The breach impacted 8,809 educational institutions, and the hacker group threatened to leak the data if not contacted by May 12. Instructure has taken steps to address the breach, including engaging a third-party forensic firm and notifying law enforcement.
