Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries Announces 50-Cent Minimum Wage Increase for July
The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries has announced a 50-cent increase in the minimum wage, effective July 1. This adjustment is part of the state's annual inflation-based wage review. The new minimum wage will be $16.80 in the Portland metro area, $15.55 in certain counties, and $14.55 in rural areas. The increase is calculated using the U.S. city average consumer price index, which showed a 3.3% rise between March 2025 and 2026. Approximately 4% of Oregon's workforce earns minimum wage, primarily in the hospitality and retail sectors. The wage increase is expected to benefit not only minimum wage earners but also other low-paid employees, as wage growth tends to have a ripple effect.
