President Trump Proposes Expansion of U.S. Territory to Include Neighboring Nations and Greenland
President Trump has published a map on his personal platform, Truth Social, depicting the U.S. flag covering not only the existing American territory but also Mexico, Canada, Central America, Cuba, and Greenland. This action follows previous suggestions by President Trump, including renaming Lake Ontario to 'Lake America' and replacing 'New Mexico' with 'New America' on a map. Earlier in his second term, he also decreed that the Gulf of Mexico should be called the 'Gulf of America.' These proposals are part of a broader intention to revive the Monroe Doctrine, which he promoted as a national security measure late last year. The renewed doctrine, initially known as 'America for Americans' (referring to the continent for U.S. citizens), did not initially include Canada or Greenland. However, President Trump has since stated that Canada should become the 51st state and that Greenland, a Danish territory, should belong to the U.S. for national security reasons.
