Bull to Deliver LUMI-AI Supercomputer, Integrating Quantum Computing Platform LUMI-IQ for Hybrid Workloads
Bull has been selected by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) and the LUMI AI Factory consortium to deliver LUMI-AI, a €387.8 million AI supercomputer. This system, scheduled for deployment in the second half of 2027 at CSC's data center in Kajaani, Finland, will significantly enhance Europe's AI capabilities, providing a tenfold increase in AI capacity and nearly doubling the high-performance computing (HPC) capability of the current LUMI supercomputer. Crucially, the LUMI-AI computing environment will be complemented by a quantum computing platform, LUMI-IQ, delivered by IQM Quantum Computers. Together, LUMI-AI and LUMI-IQ will form a leading hybrid computing platform, enabling workloads that combine HPC, AI, and quantum computing. The LUMI-IQ platform will be tightly integrated and co-located with LUMI-AI.
