Morocco to Build $1.5 Billion Waste-to-Energy Plant in Casablanca
Morocco plans to construct a $1.5 billion waste-to-energy plant in Casablanca, set to be Africa's second large-scale facility of its kind. The project, led by a consortium including Kanadevia Inova, Nareva, and Itochu, aims to process 1.5 million metric tons of waste annually and generate 115 megawatts of electricity. The plant will transform the Mediouna landfill, reducing greenhouse gas emissions significantly. Construction is expected to begin by the end of 2026, with operations starting in mid-2030.
