US Commercial Space Stations Expand Operations to Europe with New Offices
Vast and Axiom Space, two US commercial space station companies, have announced plans to establish new offices in France and Switzerland, respectively. Vast's agreement with the French government includes sending French astronauts on future missions to low Earth orbit (LEO), with French ESA Astronaut Thomas Pesquet set to command a private mission to the ISS next year. Axiom's decision to set up in Switzerland is driven by its proximity to Europe and the benefits of operating in a neutral nation that is part of ESA but outside the EU. Both companies aim to grow their access to European revenue streams and ESA space exploration funds.
