Representative Doggett Criticizes Governor Abbott's Refusal to Extradite ICE Agent
Representative Lloyd Doggett, who represents Texas's 37th congressional district, has voiced strong criticism regarding Governor Abbott's decision to not extradite an ICE agent charged in a Minneapolis shooting. The State of Minnesota has sued Governor Abbott to compel the extradition. Doggett highlighted that Abbott's refusal is inconsistent with his past actions, as the Governor has approved all Minnesota extradition requests for the past five years, including three this summer. The only difference in this case, according to Doggett, is that the accused is an ICE agent. Doggett suggests that Abbott is prioritizing his anti-immigrant stance over his legal obligations, potentially allowing the accused individual to remain free. He further noted that Abbott's claim of not trusting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is contradicted by recent extraditions to Minnesota.
