Colorado Promotes Stargazing Trail During Dark Sky Month
Colorado is enhancing its reputation as a stargazing destination by creating a 'stargazing trail' that connects some of the state's darkest and most light-pollution-free locations. According to Boise State Public Radio, the initiative is part of a broader effort to expand the number of DarkSky-certified destinations in the state. Currently, 13 state parks and eight communities in Colorado have received this certification, which requires measures to reduce artificial light pollution. The Mountain West region, including Colorado, Utah, and Idaho, is home to some of the most pristine night skies in the United States. June has been designated as Dark Sky Month in Colorado, with events such as a dark sky train excursion through the San Luis Valley and guided stargazing at Rocky Mountain National Park being promoted to encourage tourism and appreciation of natural beauty.
