Severe Storms in Springfield, Massachusetts Cause Power Outages and Building Collapse
Severe storms have struck western Massachusetts, particularly impacting Springfield, where thousands of residents are experiencing power outages and structural damage. The National Weather Service confirmed that a macroburst with winds up to 70 miles per hour caused significant damage, including a partial building collapse on Dwight Street Extension. Approximately 4,800 homes in Springfield, along with hundreds more in surrounding areas, are without power. The storm has displaced 45 residents, who are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. Springfield officials have declared a state of emergency as utility crews work to restore power and clear debris.
